Traditional Bread Preparation

Many Native American Pueblos bake bread in the traditional method demonstrated below.

Elveria Montoya, of Santa Ana Pueblo, shown heating up her outdoor oven (horno) to bake the legendary Pueblo style bread. For our Cooking Post Logo, we have incorporated the traditional horno as a symbolic part of the logo image.

By using bran, the baker can tell when the oven is at the right temperature for the bread.
